HONORING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

As an OSU author, she will be recognized for her individual achievement in "Celebrating Books by OSU Authors." Her work is available to the University community and has been added to the OSU Library's collection. She has also been officially recognized through broad state-sponsored Latino heritage proclamations and specific social work initiatives aimed at supporting immigrant communities in the State of Oklahoma.

Dr. Cavallin's academic journey is marked by significant contributions. She was a professor at the University of Los Andes and the Simón Bolívar University in Venezuela. Additionally, she has taught at the University of Salamanca in Spain. Throughout her career, she has mentored over ten undergraduate and two graduate students. Dr. Cavallin also served as editor of the academic journal Estudios. Revista de Investigaciones Literarias y Culturales (Venezuela). Her ongoing research focuses on literature and migration, particularly the production and dissemination of contemporary translations of Latin American literature.

La metáfora en Borges: los juegos del lenguaje que hacen posible la configuración de un universo de imágenes recursivas (Editorial Académica Española). She tirelessly promotes Latin American voices across various print and digital media. Her work appears in online magazines such as World Literature Today, Latin American Literature Today, and Trópico Absoluto. She has also contributed to the Papel Literario of the Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional, the magazine A Contracorriente in New Hampshire, and Carátula, published in Managua and Madrid. Dr. Cavallin served as the director of digital media for both Carátula magazine and Latin American Literature Today for several years.

She is part of Colaboratorio Ávila, a translation collective that includes Katie Brown (University of Exeter), María Gracia Pardo (University of Miami), and Raquel Rivas Rojas (University of Edinburgh). As a member of Colaboratorio Avila and independently, Dr. Cavallin has translated numerous interviews and recently published essays and poetry.

Between 2021 and 2026, Dr. Cavallin published over forty-five interviews in English and Spanish. A special mention of her interviews was published in the "Section of Venezuela Studies: The latest news, views, and announcements," November 2024 #28 of the Latin American Studies Association LASA.
